"It's a Wonderful Life!"
As many of you know, last December, Betty passed away following an unexpected diagnosis of terminal cancer. Her husband, Jim, also recently diagnosed at the time with a terminal illness, passed away only hours before. After 25 terrific years, it seems only fitting that her final ornament celebrated the "wonderful life" that she shared with Jim, her family, and all of us.
As a family, we have spent a great deal of time thinking about how to proceed with the Portland and Seattle Ornament and have decided not to move forward with a new ornament for this season. All prior years for which we still have inventory, including Betty's final "It's a Wonderful Life" silver anniversary ornament, are available for sale. Order by 11:59 PST on December 19 for the fastest delivery and possible arrival by Christmas. At this point, however, we cannot guarantee delivery by Christmas.
In addition, below are two ways in which you can honor Betty's legacy:
- Make a donation to the James & Betty Gimarelli Scholarship Fund. Your gift today supports the creation of a very special scholarship endowment that will have a lasting impact on future students within our community.
- Learn more about Betty & Jim's story. Through 60 years of marriage, Jim and Betty were inseparable. Read The Oregonian article from last Christmas.
