"It's a Wonderful Life!"
Thank you for your interest in the Portland Ornament and the Seattle Ornament series. For 25 years, Betty Gimarelli commemorated the sights and history of both Portland and Seattle, two cities that brought much joy to Betty and her family. Betty also created many beautiful commissioned ornaments.
Although we are not currently producing new ornaments in the series, we are pleased to continue to offer many of the past year's ornaments for sale.
Betty Gimarelli / Founder and Designer
In December 2013, Betty passed away following a brief and unexpected diagnosis of terminal cancer. Her husband, Jim, also recently diagnosed at the time with a terminal illness, passed away only hours before. After 25 terrific years, it seems only fitting that her final ornament celebrated the "wonderful life" that she shared with Jim, her family, and all of us.
Although we are not currently producing new ornaments in the series, many prior years are available for ordering at any time. Shipment times during the off-season are typically a couple of weeks, and faster during the holiday months.
In addition, below are two ways in which you can honor Betty's legacy:
- Make a donation to the James & Betty Gimarelli Scholarship Fund. Your gift today supports the creation of a very special scholarship endowment that will have a lasting impact on future students within our community.
- Learn more about Betty & Jim's story. Through 60 years of marriage, Jim and Betty were inseparable. Read The Oregonian article from Christmas 2013.
